CEO, Co-Founder. Joey Skavroneck is a junior in the Kenan-Flagler Business School, focusing on entrepreneurship and marketing. He is a recipient of the Coca Cola and Foot Locker scholarships and was a national public speaking champion. Joey is a national advocate for promoting healthy relationships and drafted a bill with his sister, Sara, to mandate healthy relationship training in all North Carolina public schools. His work has earned him invitations to meet with Vice President Joe Biden and to be featured in Seventeen Magazine. Joey’s favorite aspect of Buzz Rides is seeing how social innovation can catapult an idea into a sustainable business. Outside of school and Buzz Rides, Joey enjoys playing basketball, skiing, and traveling.
President, Co-Founder. Parker Draughon is from Atlanta, GA, but grew up knowing he wanted to be a Carolina Tar Heel. Parker is currently studying Business and Spanish at UNC Chapel Hill. Being able to start a business has always been a dream of Parker’s, and the fact that Buzz Rides has been able to positively benefit the environment and the community is just a bonus. Parker’s passion for business stems from his father, who is his role model. Parker’s other interests include traveling, sports, and food. He hopes to open restaurants one day after taking Buzz Rides across the country.
Chief Financial Officer. Chris Jones is a sophomore at UNC-Chapel Hill from Charlotte, NC. A Cato Scholar at the Kenan-Flagler Business School and an Honors Carolina student, Chris is focusing his studies on Finance and Entrepreneurship, where he has relevant experience having interned at a hedge fund as well as a boutique investment bank. The trip to India joins Spain and South Africa in the growing list of countries that Chris has studied/done service in. His favorite part about Buzz Rides is how the service has been fully integrated into Chapel Hill nightlife, as well as the University?۪s appreciation for the commitment to student safety. Outside of UNC, Chris enjoys the outdoors, especially hiking and skiing in the Rocky Mountains.
Director of Marketing. A native of rural Nebraska, Brent Comstock leads the marketing efforts for Buzz Rides. Fairly new to the position, Brent is a first year at UNC majoring in religious studies and business. As marketing director of Buzz Rides, he is instrumental in the creation and management of the Buzz Rides website, social media marketing efforts, and company branding. Additionally he is developing a company expansion plan to share this entrepreneurial innovation with other universities around the country. Brent?۪s business involvement comes from his own entrepreneurial endeavor, BCom Solutions, and extensive involvement as a national officer for Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) in high school. In his spare time, Brent can be found playing the piano or participating in an event at Wesley Campus Ministry.
Director of Sustainability. Caleb Cates is an Environmental Studies Major with Marine Science and City and Regional Planning minors. Caleb joined the team in December of 2013. Currently he has been calculating the emission savings Buzz Rides has accumulated so far. But he is also involved in finding funding such as grants, along with implementing sustainable practices on any level.?? Aside from work and school, he loves playing sports. Basketball in particular has become a passion of his that has opened up doors to making new friends and connections.
Director of Public Relations. Ashley Cirone is Director of Public Relations and works to keep up the buzz about Buzz Rides in the news and on campus. Ashley is a sophomore in the UNC School of Journalism and Mass Communication from Raleigh, NC with a double major in PR and Political Science. In addition to working for Buzz Rides, she is the Executive Vice President of her sorority, Alpha Delta Pi, and works as an Assistant Account Executive for the Daily Tar Heel. She enjoys spending time with friends and family, Harry Potter, frozen yogurt, Entourage, dogs, and Tar Heel basketball.
Director of Small Business Development. Quinn Burns is a sophomore Public Health major with a special focus in Health Policy and Management and hopes to begin a career in hospital administration after graduate school. He is Director of Small Business Development for Buzz Rides as he creates and executes unique marketing strategies with local businesses in Chapel Hill. Quinn also undertakes the organization and scheduling of private events with clubs, organizations, and Greek life at UNC Chapel Hill.
