Originally from Dix Hills, New York, he is now a sophomore at Duke, double majoring in Computer Science and Economics. Ian had been interested in working on a start-up business, and so when presented the opportunity to join the Buzz Rides team, he couldn’t wait to get started! In his spare time, he enjoys playing golf and basketball and watching college sports. Although his dream job as a child was to be a garbage truck driver, Ian is now interested in a career in consulting!

JD Herrman

JD Herrman

COO at Duke's Buzz Rides

JD Herrman is the Chief Operating Officer of Duke’s Buzz Rides and is responsible for overseeing our day-to-day operations and managing our drivers. Originally from Scarborough, Maine, he is now a senior at Duke, majoring in Mechanical Engineering and minoring in Economics. While interning with Delta Airlines in Atlanta this past summer, JD was looking to get involved with a startup on the side. He reached out to Cameron, who is originally from Atlanta, for suggestions of interesting startups to join in the area. Cameron didn’t know of any Atlanta-based startups, but saw the opportunity to invite JD to join the Buzz Rides team in the fall back at Duke. JD immediately accepted, as he saw this as a great opportunity to get involved in a start-up to continue to build his business experience outside of his engineering education. After graduation, JD will be working as a Business Analyst for Capital One in Washington DC. His long-term career goal is to find a position at the intersection of business and sports. In his spare time, he plays club soccer and recreational basketball, golf, tennis, and football. He also enjoys traveling and had the opportunity to visit Santiago, Chile, and Amsterdam during his summer internship.
